CULTIVA
What’s in a name? The Board of Kristiansand Kommunes Energiverksstiftelse noted early on that the community in Kristiansand, as well as the press and media, did not relate well to the name of the Foundation. At times the Foundation was confused with the Sørlandets Kompetansefond (the competence fundation for Vest-Agder region), and amongst the public, the Foundation was, with increasing regularity referred to as “the culture foundation”.
The Board resolved to find a name that would be easier to communicate, as well as develop a graphic profile to give the Foundation a clear identity. To achieve this, the design agency Trigger Ltd. was commissioned to work together with the Board. At the Board meeting on Tuesday 16th April 2002 the Board decided unanimously on the name, logo and the graphic profile for the Foundation.
Cultiva is derived from the Latin word “cultio” which means, “to cultivate”. The name “Cultiva” communicates growth, innovation and development. We see Cultiva as an appealing and harmonious name that is easy to pronounce, easy to read, and works well in any language.
